As the nation awaits Saturday’s $900 million Powerball drawing, officials revealed that a Victory Blvd. deli has sold a Mega Millions lottery ticket worth $165 million.
The lucky winner, who has yet to be identified, bought the quik-pick ticket at the Willowbrook Deli in Castleton Corners.
“A lottery official called us at seven in the morning to tell us,” manager Sarbjit Singh told the Daily News.
“I was shocked.”
“Powerball is $900 million,” Singh, 35, added.
“Hopefully, we’ll sell that ticket, too.”The winning numbers were 11, 39, 51, 57 and 75, plus Mega ball 2.
The cash value of the jackpot is $101 million, lottery officials said.
Customers who streamed inside the bodega to scoop up Powerball tickets were glad to hear one of their own was an instant millionaire.
“Happy for him. I hope he enjoys himself,” said Virgenino Ferrari, 92. “If I won, I’d give half of it away to the church.”
Camille Savino said she believes the mystery winner is likely busy working out a financial plan.
“I play here all the time, but I didn’t come last night,” Savino said. “I guess it wasn’t my turn.”
News of the Staten Island winner came as Powerball fever spread across the nation.
The record-breaking jackpot — already the largest of any lottery game in U.S. history — climbed to $900 million Saturday.
If no one matches all the numbers Saturday, the jackpot will surge to $1.3 billion for the next drawing, lottery officials said.
The winning numbers will be announced at 10:59 p.m.
